Patient Spotlight

by Erin on August 11, 2010

On Thursday August 5, 2010 an established patient with Siloé Clinic arrived at the clinic with severe abdominal pain and bleeding.   Julia* had recently found out she was pregnant, but was in so much pain she could barely walk. When she sat up on the exam table she collapsed into Sarah’s arms crying, from physical and emotional exhaustion. Our staff at Siloé prayed with Julia and reassured her as she was very fearful.  Our nurse Miriam and medical assistant Lauren took Julia to Rosarito for an ultrasound, a 30 minute drive from the clinic.  The ultrasound confirmed that Julia had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy and that she would need emergency surgery.  Sarah insisted that Julia be taken to the hospital for surgery immediately.  Unfortunately, there was no surgeon in Rosarito who could operate, so they had to drive another 45 minutes to Tijuana, where that evening she had emergency surgery.  The clinic arranged care for her 10 month old son for the next few days and was able to provide financially for her medical bills.

Julia is now at home recovering well.  While she is still struggling with post-operative pain, the clinic continues to support her family financially, with childcare, and post-op medical care.  Please pray for our patient to have full recovery, without complications, for peace and, for renewed strength that comes only from the Holy Spirit.
