On Thursday July 29, Siloé partnered with a group from Florida, who put on a pediatric health fair extravaganza. More than 80 kids and their families participated in this event. RNs, Brooke Moran and Becky McIntyre coordinated and organized the fair, setting up more than 10 stations of healthful information ranging from teeth brushing and hand washing to scoliosis checks (from chiropractor Sherry Griffin), information on healthy eating, and eye checks. They even measured and charted height and weight for each kid!
The clinic and group put their resources together and provided kids with a banana, a bottle of children’s vitamins, tooth brushes, floss, and as many handouts and coloring sheets on healthy foods, eating, and exercise as they could carry home!
During the fair, the clinic was open for pediatric consults only. Dr. Hal White, a retired pediatrician with the group, saw patients with Sarah Mayer on Tuesday July 27 and Thursday July 29, 2010.
It was a successful event and a wonderful example of how groups can serve the community and also support the activities of Siloé clinic.
