New volunteer Varina with one of our youngest patients
Varina is a registered nurse who finished her schooling in 2008 and started working in a hospital in Tacoma Washington in their step-down unit. She has always had a love and interest in missions, and has participated in numerous house-building missions trips with Amor Ministries. She stumbled upon our website when searching for medical missions opportunities in Baja and felt called by God to come for a visit; after quitting her job and packing up her apartment she came for a 3-week visit in June. After that visit she decided to return again to La Mision in mid-July! We’re thrilled that Varina has joined our team. She currently lives in volunteer housing at Open Arms Daycare–another ministry in town. When she’s not at clinic, doing house-calls, going to Tecate or helping out at the daycare, she enjoys running on the beach, studying Spanish and entertaining us all with her witty blog entries!
