Jose (“Jimmy”), our patient with a serious heart defect, was granted an emergency medical visa last week! He was escorted across the border this morning and is currently en route to Newport Beach, CA, where he will undergo tests tomorrow at Hoag Hospital. They will determine if surgery needs to be scheduled immediately or can wait until next week.
We’re very grateful for the many individuals who have helped make this a possibility. Dozens of people have spent countless hours writing petition letters, networking with doctors on both sides of the border, raising funds and arranging housing in Orange County for Jimmy, members of the Siloé team and Jimmy’s sister and father.
But the greatest thank you of all goes to Hoag Hospital and the surgeons of Raney Zusman, who are donating the complex surgery to save Jimmy’s life!
We will update the blog as Jimmy’s case progresses. Please pray for a successful outcome, and for peace for Jimmy’s wife, Blanca, who was not granted a visa as hoped. She and their three children will have to remain in Mexico during his surgery and recovery. We continue to trust God with all the details!
